A felicitous Chinese necklace of hand carved amethyst. A strand of pretty pale purple amethyst beads displays a pendant in the shape of a plum. The three-dimensional carving displays the subtle variegation of color in the amethyst. The beads are hand knotted on lavender silk. Circa 1950.

The plum is a rich and auspicious symbol in Chinese culture: the fruits symbolize fertility and longevity, the plant symbolizes perseverance, courage, and hope as it blossoms at the end of winter with snow still upon the ground. 

Details.....The beads are 27" long and the pendant measures 2.09" by 1.08" by 0.45". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it a part of their charm.
